JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manages the activities associated with the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts front of house primarily in Emerson Concert Hall, Dance Studio, and Chace Gallery before, during, and after scheduled events.
  • Oversees front-of-house personnel who interact with guests -- including volunteer ushers, student ushers, security, and concessions (as applicable).
  • Attends regular production meetings regarding specific requirements for each event.
  • Provides leadership in emergency situations, including fire alarms and evacuations.
  • Communicates with back-of-house on performance timelines including starting the performance, ending intermission, etc.
  • Problem solves any guest issues that arise and collaborates with box office staff to resolve guest ticketing issues.
  • Ensures public areas are clean, stocked, and always inviting for guests; communicates needs with operations assistant as necessary.
  • Completes and sends out a House Report at the end of each event.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing large gatherings of people.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with a large team and speak individually with guests.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Trained in First Aid and CPR (Emory will arrange training as needed).
  • Able to remain energetic, visible, and active for hours; may include lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Able and willing to work evening and non-traditional hours.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
