Hello and thank you for your interest in the cleaning position at DCMS. At this time, as I would like to have the opportunity to speak with each applicant one on one, I also want to be as efficient as possible in the hiring process. With the amount of potential applicants that have applied I want to give each person the basics of the open position before establishing an interview or conversation.
First I would like to take a moment and provide you with some information pertaining to the position, your responsibilities and roles that you will perform.
Secondly I would like to explain how the business is managed and why that is extremely important to you and your decision to work here.
Lastly I am going to provide you with a time and place to receive more information if you choose to do so.
The position you are applying for is a house cleaning position. It is Monday through Friday, primarily 7:30am-4:30pm or 8am-5pm. There is an option to work Tuesday through Saturday if one chooses to have a Sunday and Monday off. One must pass a background check, have their own working vehicle and a valid drivers license. There is an intense training program. I say “intense” because there is only one way to clean which is the DCMS way. I have implemented specific processes and procedures when it comes to cleaning that allows for efficiency and effectiveness when cleaning. The training program is a 45 day program. Some individuals do complete the training sooner than others, which allows for a pay increase at a faster rate.
Some of the responsibilities of the employee include: daily emails, depositing checks, filling supplies (which are kept in your vehicle), communication to owner and trainer when applicable and following the TCP (the cleaning plan).
Understandably this position requires one to be self managed and reliable to come to work. As the owner, I employ individuals that can manage themselves in the field as I do not want to babysit staff. (I apologize for the bluntness of that statement, but it is the truth.)
The pay starts at $14.50-$16.50 depending on experience specifically in this industry. Once the TCP (The Cleaning Plan) is completed a raise is given. There is also a weekly vehicle reimbursement, up to $65 a week for use of one’s vehicle. After you are with the company for a year, you receive a week's paid vacation, 3 paid sick days and also a 401k matching. I currently have employees that have been with the company for over 2 years and make over $20 an hour.
Let’s discuss the business and its operating procedures now. As the owner, I work primarily out of state with other companies that I run. DCMS (Distinctive Cleaning & Maintenance Services) has been in business since 2007 in AZ, and I decided to expand last year. I am not in AZ but about 4 times a year to inspect and evaluate current business practices. That being said, hiring the right people is extremely important and the wrong person can be a detriment to the company. I hire people that can self manage, come to work, perform the job required, and at the end of the day go home to their families and enjoy that time.
This job can be very rewarding! It is hard work too. It is physical labor, squatting to clean baseboards, bending down to clean toilets, lifting, scrubbing all while meeting customer expectations as well as the companies. Each employee works on their own, assigned to their specific houses/jobs. There is never a question about where you will be week to week, as it is outlined for you in a scheduling app. Once again working on your own requires one to be self motivated and able to manage themselves daily.
