Hotel Engineer

Job Purpose: To maintain grounds of hotel, performing any combination of the following tasks.

Every day begins with routine maintenance checks to make sure the walkways, fixtures, walls, ceilings, elevators, air conditioning, heat, ventilation, kitchen, laundry, pools, sound systems, fire alarms, boilers, smoke and CO2 detectors, boilers, water, electrical, and sewage systems are up to standards. It takes attention to details to see if anything is a miss. Optimally, the Hotel Engineer stops and fixes a problem before any issues arise.

After the routine safety checks, Hotel Engineers are on call to help with any unexpected problems. This may include fixing faucets, removing snow, landscaping, adjusting water pressure, unlocking doors, correcting power outages, changing light bulbs, killing rodents, or anything else that may improve a guest's experience. It is helpful, and sometimes required, for a Hotel Engineer to have licenses to perform certain maintenance.

The Hotel Engineering department oversees all hotel maintenance issues. They are responsible for monitoring consumption of utilities, ensuring everything is up to code and meets regulations, developing a maintenance schedule, and keeping proper records of all routine and preventative maintenance. Ultimately, it is the Hotel Engineer's job to make sure the hotel is a safe environment for guests.

Job Responsibilities:

• Preventive maintenance program.

• Carry out proposed renovation of guest rooms or public areas.

• Fire and Safety procedures.

• Any Emergency Procedures.

• Back-up System (Diesel Generator (DG) Sets and UPS Backup)

• Fire alarms and its monitoring.

• Fix any water leaks (isolation points).

• Maintenance calls logging and action.

• Ensure all types of equipment are checked regularly for proper and efficient operation.

• Regular tests of fire prevention system.

• Maintenance request forms filled out for all equipment or areas in need of repair

• All guest requests are given priority.

• Any electricity and light failure.

• Emergency lighting.

• Plant and Equipment Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM).

• Hot water boiler check.

• HVAC (Heating, ventilating and air conditioning) check.

• Cold water storage tanks.

• Water PH level monitoring for swimming pool and other water sources.

• All Lifts and Escalators.

• Bathroom exhaust fans.

• Health club and Spa equipment.

• Monitor any external or 3rd party vendor maintenance jobs.

• Building structure.

• Roof condition.

• Windows.

• Pigeon Wires.

• Energy saving.

• Meter reading.

• Maintenance and monitoring of solar panels.

• PABX and Telephone systems.

• Energy saving committee.

• BMS (Building Management System) operation.

• Hotel Facility Management systems operation.

• Environmental norms and regulations monitoring.

• Go Green initiatives.

• Waste disposal/ recycling.

• Laundry machines, washers, dryers, calender machine etc..

• All engineering department staff to wear the proper uniform.

• Grooming standards to be followed by the engineering team.

Job Skills:

• Work outside for long periods of time and in all kinds of weather, performing tasks that require physical strength and endurance.
• Follow instructions exactly.
• Adjust to doing the same kind of work all day long or performing a variety of different tasks on the same day, depending on daily business needs.
• Work quickly and skillfully with your hands to do such things as operating tractors or lawn mowers.
