The Residence Inn by Marriott, located in the Piper Glen/Ballantyne area of Charlotte, is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer. The person hired for this position will work day shift and must have weekend availability.
$250 Sign-On Bonus*
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To supervise and perform all maintenance and engineering operations for the hotel.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and respond to guest repair requests. Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, HVAC equipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and program TV's.
- Direct and perform preventative maintenance throughout the hotels, including both the front and back of the house, interior and exterior. This includes preventative maintenance of the lobbies and other areas, furniture, decorations, carpet, marble, tile, vinyl, paint, hotel equipment, windows, mirrors, etc.
- Safely perform repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters - ensuring all methods, materials and practices meet company standards and Local and National codes - with little or no supervision.
- Perform routine inspections of the entire property, noting safety hazards, lack of illumination, down equipment (such as ice makers, fans, extractors, pumps), and take immediate corrective action.
- Maintain exterior of building and grounds as necessary
- Maintain operating equipment in working condition by performing routine equipment checks and repairs.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings.
- Maintain cleanliness of individual work area and storage rooms.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Two years of experience in hotel or building maintenance or in related building fields consisting of repairs, refurbishing, cleaning, HVAC, and maintenance administration.
- Display general knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, life safety operating systems, pools, preventative maintenance programs and OSHA regulations.
- Certified Pool Operator, CFC and HVAC license and any further Certifications preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with high levels of successful communication.
- Ability to encourage co-workers to perform their best work in a positive and respectful manner.
- Self-directed and ability to work independently.
JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employees in this position work primarily indoors and outdoors. To perform the job successfully, the candidate must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum weight of approximately 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, kneel, bend and crawl, squat and crouch, and tolerate exposure to dust and building/maintenance chemicals and debris.
