JOB TITLE: Restaurant Host/Hostess
DEPARTMENT: F&B
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, F&B Director
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time
$17.60 per hour
SUMMARY: As a Host/Hostess in our hotel restaurant, you will be the first point of contact for guests, welcoming them with warmth and professionalism. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure smooth operations by managing reservations, seating guests, and assisting with inquiries. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive dining experience for our guests while upholding the hotel's standards of hospitality and service excellence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Welcome guests to the restaurant with a friendly and courteous demeanor, providing a positive first impression.
• Manage reservations and seating assignments efficiently, maintaining an organized seating chart and accommodating guest preferences whenever possible.
• Escort guests to their tables, presenting menus, and informing them of any specials or promotions.
• Monitor table turnover and communicate with the kitchen and serving staff to ensure timely service and a smooth dining experience.
• Assist guests with inquiries, including menu items, dietary restrictions, and special requests, providing accurate information and recommendations as needed.
• Coordinate with the restaurant manager and servers to prioritize seating during busy periods and ensure that all guests receive prompt attention.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the restaurant lobby and waiting areas, including keeping menus and promotional materials updated and well-stocked.
• Handle guest complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, seeking resolution to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Collaborate with the kitchen and serving staff to accommodate special requests or dietary restrictions, ensuring a seamless dining experience for all guests.
• Assist with hosting special events or private functions held in the restaurant, coordinating with the events team, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Assist other restaurant team members as necessary.
• Perform other related services and duties as assigned by supervisor and management.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role, preferably as a Host/Hostess in a restaurant or hotel setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage reservations and seating assignments effectively.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure under pressure.
• Knowledge of basic restaurant operations and dining etiquette, with a willingness to learn and adapt to the hotel's standards and procedures.
• Professional appearance and demeanor, with a focus on providing exceptional service to enhance the guest experience.
• Familiarity with reservation management systems and basic computer skills is preferred but not required.
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, and carry trays of food & beverages for extended periods in indoor conditions and temperatures.
• Certification in responsible food & alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe, food handling, etc.).
• Attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Exposure to indoor conditions and temperatures is inherent in the role.
