Job Overview:
As a Host/Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for guests, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. This role is crucial in setting the tone for an Exceptional dining experience. Your primary focus will be on providing outstanding guest service, managing reservations, and ensuring a smooth flow of guests in the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Reception:
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage the guest waiting list and communicate estimated wait times.
Reservations Management:
- Answer phone calls and inquiries regarding reservations.
- Record and manage reservations accurately, optimizing table turnover.
Seating Assignments:
- Escort guests to their tables, providing menus and notifying servers of newly seated parties.
- Organize and manage seating arrangements to balance guest flow and server workload.
Guest Service Excellence:
- Provide Exceptional customer service by being attentive, courteous, and accommodating.
- Anticipate and address guest needs, making recommendations when appropriate.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate with kitchen and serving staff to manage table turnover and special requests.
- Relay information about reservations and special events to appropriate team members.
Cleanliness and Presentation:
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the Host/Hostess stand and waiting area.
- Monitor and maintain an organized and appealing entrance and waiting space.
Guest Relations:
- Handle guest inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
- Proactively address any issues to ensure guest satisfaction and a positive experience.
Upselling:
- Promote special menu items, promotions, and events to guests waiting for a table.
- Encourage participation in loyalty programs or promotions.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to manage reservations and guest flow.
Cash Handling:
- Handle cash transactions accurately, providing correct change when necessary.
- Assist with billing inquiries and communicate billing information to servers.
Dress code:
- Business attire black or navy suit.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Host/Hostess or in a customer service role, preferably in a restaurant setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage reservations effectively and handle high-pressure situations with composure.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic cash-handling procedures.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the Host/Hostess station and waiting area.
