SUMMARY
The Host position is the first to interact with our guests when they arrive to the restaurant, and its important to leave a positive impression! This position entails greeting our guests and making them feel welcome, escorting guests to their tables, taking & managing reservations, and providing excellent customer service.
All our employees work equally hard, and we are proud of our team-oriented environment. All FOH positions pool tips and tips are distributed evenly based off the number of hours worked. This is a highly tipped position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Clock in for each shift in uniform, on time, and ready to work
- Preform assigned daily opening and/or closing sidework duties
- Work as a team player, supporting and communicating with co-workers and mangers to ensure optimal guest satisfaction
- Greeting guests, checking in reservations, and escorting guests to their tables or banquet rooms
- Answering the phone promptly and with a proper phone etiquette, and a friendly attitude
- Following protocol when taking guest reservations and walk-ins
- Understanding the ATS system, and properly transferring phone calls
Taking detailed and accurate messages for managers
- Checking of guest’s coats, luggage, equipment, etc.
- Accommodate reasonable requests made by guests and take notes for special reservation requests
Keeping notes in the OpenTable system about guest preferences, VIP guests, and manager directions
- utilizing the OpenTable reservation software to map out reservations for each shift and managing the number of covers and timing of reservations
- Taking ‘To Go’ orders from guest and properly inputting them into the POS
- Managing online ‘To Go’ orders and dispersing order tickets
- Control the sales of Trader Vic’s retail items by selling items to guests, organizing the ‘Gift Shop’, maintaining the ‘Gift Shop’ display, and retrieving items from the ‘Gift Shop’ for servers, bartenders, or managers upon request
- Keeping host stand clean & organized
- Clean, organize, and keep inventory of all menu’s & promotional inserts
- Flexibility to preform duties in other areas/sections that may be outside of assigned section, as requested by MOD
- Flexibility to perform duties that may be outside the typical range of SA duties, if reasonable, and as assigned by MOD

- Must be punctual, have a good attendance record, and have reliable means of transportation to work.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of working in the hospitality environment
- 1+ years of experience working in a ‘Host’ or equivalent position
- Experience using Open Table software
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid CA Food Handler Certificate or obtain a valid CA Food Handler Certificate by start date.
