Reports To: General Manager, Assistant Managers FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: Starts at $10.00 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

A cashier at Tony’s Mexican Restaurant is responsible for processing cash, debit, credit and check transactions using cash register or other point of sales system at the restaurant. Their duties include balancing the register, making changes if necessary. Also answering and taking phones orders for the restaurant. In cases assist the host and curbside position. Like all other positions at the restaurant, they must comply with all company policies and guidelines.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• No previous experience is required
• Must have a current Food Handlers card issued by the State of Texas
• Must have full knowledge of the food, beverage and dessert menu and be able to answer customer’s questions
• Must have great customer service skills
• Must have good knowledge of mathematics skills
• Must have multi-tasking abilities
• Must have good attitude
• Must have a pleasant personality
• Able to work early mornings, afternoons, and weekends
• Must be a team player
• Must be bilingual (Spanish-English)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Show up ready for work (clean and in full uniform) at the time schedule
• Maintain your personal appearance in accordance to restaurant grooming standards.
• Smile and be courteous to all guests
• Answer telephone according to script within three rings and with a smile in your voice
• Take messages, to-go orders and provide information regarding operations and events to customers through telephone calls and in person
• Have full knowledge of the menu in order to correctly take to-go orders
• Input, get ready and deliver complete and presentable to-go orders to customers
• Settle some guest checks in POS system and maintain accountability for transactions
• Maintain complete knowledge of POS system for required transactions
• Responsible for adding tip amounts to all credit card transactions
• Process all tipped employees’ check-outs
• Report any financial discrepancies to management

Other Functions:

• Make sure entry door and reception area are always clean free of debris
• Make sure the candy and tooth pick trays are filled throughout operations
• Make sure the to-go menus stand is filled throughout operations
• When necessary, assist the team with bussing tables or other functions
• Maintain a harmonious relationship with all employees
• Utilize suggestive and upgrade selling on to-go orders
• Request management for any supplies needed from storage
• Maintain service areas clean and stocked with supplies
• Delivery friendly and prompt service to all customers
• Work constantly with waiter/waitress and bussers
• Must know and follow sanitary food handling procedures
• Attend all scheduled meetings and provide suggestions for improvement
• Work well under pressure during peak hours or peak season
• Other side duties assigned by management

Education: High School diploma or GED

Experience: 6 months experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
