Host - Part Time @ Hoffman Estates

The Assembly American Bar & Café opened its doors in 1978 for the first time in Hoffman Estates. Glenn Taylor was a part of the original team running the Assembly and in 1995 he and his family took over as the sole owners. In 2015 ownership fully passed to his son and daughter-in-law. The philosophy, in the ensuing years, was to maintain the original recipes and character of the restaurant. The Host provides warm, friendly, and immediate greetings to guests at the door. Seats, and presents clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional, and quick manner. This position is scheduled on weeknight and weekends.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Greeting and seating guests, presenting menus to guests, informing them of special menu items

Treating guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction

Taking names on a waiting list through OpenTable

Taking reservations and inputting through OpenTable

Running the floor plan board on the OpenTable tablet

Observing tables and keeping track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables

Taking guest information and quoting wait time to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available

Cleaning, organizing, and stocking menus at host area, and keeping the boosters and highchairs clean and ready for use

Answering phone and answering questions concerning the menu and restaurant

Interacting with guests coming in and as they leave, ensuring a positive dining experience

Taking, and inputting to go orders, ensuring they are correct, and taking payment

Maintaining restrooms throughout shift

Performing other duties as assigned

Excellent communication skills (verbally interacts with management, servers, team members and guests)

Phone skills interacting with customers for carryout orders, reservations, and miscellaneous questions

Must be able to read, write, and determine wait time based on Company’s procedures

Must visually scan restaurant for clean, unoccupied tables

Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask

Knowledge of workplace safety procedures

Must have a reliable mode of transportation

Nights and weekends to be expected for scheduling
