Hospital Maintenance Technician
Hours: Various
PAY: $15 per hour starting wage, depending on skills & experience
Vanguard Resources, an Industry-Leading Facilities Management Company, in operation over 27 years,(STILL family owned & operated) is actively recruiting for Full-time, Hospital Maintenance Technicians to support the Plant Operations and Maintenance Team for our Client:
Valley Baptist Medical Center, Brownsville, Texas: 1040 W. Jefferson Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521
Position Overview:
- Under general supervision, performs routine, corrective and emergency maintenance work orders. Works as part of a team to perform duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. Minor maintenance and repair duties are the primary duties. Assists the Department with plumbing, electrical and HVAC maintenance under the direction of the Operations Manager to ensure all work is performed correctly.
Job Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to the following):
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the POM Department
- Preventive Maintenance Work Orders are closed under 30 days.
- Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required.
- Assists in maintaining and repairing HVAC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.
- As required, assists in maintaining electrical wiring and emergency generator systems. Inspects and tests equipment/systems.
- Performs preventive maintenance duties to all physical structures of facility and complies with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated controls.
- Assists in replacing, installing, repairing and testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliances and lighting systems as required.
- Maintains repairs and installs plumbing and related fixtures and components as required
- Maintains repairs and installs HVAC and related components as required.
- Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
- Performs manual duties as requested (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are performed in a safe manner
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Basic ability to troubleshoot problems with commercial electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Must be willing to work alternating schedules.
- Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read drawings.
- Valid driver's license, and approved to drive by Company's insurance carrier.
- Must successfully pass criminal background check.
- Must complete and/or take all required health screenings and vaccines.
Experience:
Basic knowledge in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations settings. Applicants must be familiarized with one or more POM trades (HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical or refrigeration).

- A head for heights and willingness to work in all sorts of weather.
- A willingness to work in confined spaces.
Physical Fitness:
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely work in confined areas
- Ability to safely work kneeling, crouching and similar positions for extended periods
- Ability to safely work in extreme temperatures
