Job Description
Empyrean Hospice hires Volunteer Coordinators to plan, coordinate, and manage all volunteer program activities for a specific Empyrean Hospice branch and the patients, families, and community it serves.
Salary or hourly rate listed is the base for this role; increase commensurate with experience.
Position Overview Volunteer Coordinator:
Represent Empyrean Hospice with the utmost professionalism and compassion
Develop and maintain the volunteer training and orientation program
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
Recruit, educate, and coordinate volunteers from recurring recruitment sessions
Establish volunteer services needs with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice interdisciplinary team
Provide hospice education and the volunteer role in hospice to the community and prospective volunteers
Maintain monthly statistics, personnel files, budget adherence, and documentation
Ensure standards of ethical business and clinical practice are prioritized

Position Qualifications
Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others
Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision, yet also as member of a complete care team
College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a health care setting, hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred
Understands the hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
Ability to organize, supervise, and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs
Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees
Demonstrate good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
Computer proficient with Microsoft suite
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Must possess a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
