SalaryEmpyrean Hospice hires Volunteer Coordinators to plan, coordinate, and manage all volunteer program activities for a specific Empyrean Hospice branch and the patients, families, and community it serves.
Salary or hourly rate listed is the base for this role; increase commensurate with experience.
Position Overview – Volunteer Coordinator:
- Represent Empyrean Hospice with the utmost professionalism and compassion
- Develop and maintain the volunteer training and orientation program
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
- Recruit, educate, and coordinate volunteers from recurring recruitment sessions
- Establish volunteer services needs with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice interdisciplinary team
- Provide hospice education and the volunteer role in hospice to the community and prospective volunteers
- Maintain monthly statistics, personnel files, budget adherence, and documentation
- Ensure standards of ethical business and clinical practice are prioritized

Position Qualifications
- Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others
- Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision, yet also as member of a complete care team
- College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a health care setting, hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred
- Understands the hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
- Ability to organize, supervise, and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs
- Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
- Computer proficient with Microsoft suite
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must possess a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
