Job Title: Operator for Hooper Printer Slitter/Scorer Press
Reports to: Converting Work Center Supervisor
Status: Hourly Full Time
Rate: $17-$20 per hour, depending upon experience
Shift: 1st Shift 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Summary of Position:
This Operator position is responsible for cutting-and-creasing-press operation, operating machine to print and slot container blanks, according to work orders; selecting, installing, and adjusting slotting and perforating knives in machine according to specified dimensions of slot and spacing of perforations; positioning and attaching printing mats to print rollers according to printing order; using hand or air staple gun, wrenches, and tape measure; turning handwheels and pushing buttons or levers to adjust paper guides on machine feed table and automatic stacker; using hand tools; and starting machine; measuring printed-slotted blanks to verify machine setup; examining printed-slotted blanks for even ink distribution, trueness of color, printing flaws, and wrinkles.
The Hooper Printer Slotter Press Operator will be responsible for working in a safe productive manner, producing good quality boxes and trays, and completing necessary paperwork for management. The incumbent also works at completing all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. The incumbent will work in a team environment where safety is the top priority.
Essential Functions:
- Comprehending and demonstrating understanding of all training and safety instructions associated with the Hooper press.
- Setting up the press safely and properly on basic orders within 30 days and setting up more complicated orders within 60 days.
- Proficiently reading and using a tape measure.
- Reading and understanding print specs.
- Reading and understanding CAD drawings.
- Working and communicating well with the Package Design team.
- Receiving and putting away products and completing all necessary paperwork while adhering to quality standards that align with ISO 9001.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School degree or GED
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to operate hand and power jacks
- Ability to read and follow work instructions
- Good time management skills
- Solid interpersonal skills
- Ability to work beyond regular scheduled hours if necessary
- Proven work experience in manufacturing environment
- Good organizational skills
