Home Study, And Recruitment Specialist

The Home Studyand Recruitment Specialist Foster Care Services in the VA region is responsible for the assessment of prospective families for foster parent licensure as well as providing them with support throughout and after the licensure process in order to complete their initial and on-going home studies. In addition, this Specialist will create and implement recruitment opportunities to obtain new foster families. 

Essential Functions

• Complete SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) Home Study assessments for prospective families. 
• Manage a Home Study caseload. 
• Conduct monthly and quarterly home visits. 
• Respond to requests regarding the status of families. 
• Complete and submit reports as required. 
• Attend staffing, hearings and other meetings to address approval barriers, denials and/or closures. 
• Complete renewal activities for all families assigned to case load. 
• Maintain adequate tracking system. 
• Conduct regular community outreach to identify prospective foster parents. 
• Process all information through established professional internal and external channels of communications .
• Create relationships with community partners in order to host regularly scheduled recruitment events.
• Engage social media and creative outlets in order to recruit foster parents.
• Host regularly scheduled orientation for prospective foster parents.
• Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and other staff personnel to ensure that items needed for recruitment activities are present.
• Coordinate complete foster home licensure with the Program Coordinator.
• Assist with the maintenance of case records in accordance with quality assurance standard.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
   

• Knowledge or understanding of the U.S. Refugee Resettlement program
• SAFE trained
• Master’s degree (MSW) from an accredited college 
• Culturally competent: experience with different cultures, religions, and nationalities.
• Experience in writing cohesive and coherent court reports, treatment plans, contact notes, and monthly reports.
• Knowledge of trauma based practices and working with youth
• Experience in family therapy and/or trauma informed therapy. 
• Connections and/or partnerships with community organizations
• Will be required to pass background check in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. 
• Must have reliable and accessible transportation
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
• 10% physical labor with setting up and breaking down recruitment events tables/ tents. (no more than 50 pounds)
• Skills
• 2 plus years of experience in child welfare, preferred.
• 2 plus years of experience in SAFE Home Study assessment, preferred
• 2 plus years of experience in the foster care system, preferred
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
• Experienced in data collection systems
• Ability to manage time well. 
• Ability to work independently and in a group. 
• Spanish speaking, preferred
