23.5 Hours per week- 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday)
Mondays 9AM-3PM Tue - Thur 9AM-3:30PM
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this position is to assist students, parents, and staff in locating and procuring library materials for classroom and homeschool use. Typically will work independently with some supervision and assistance from the library team, supervise students within the building and outdoors.
Essential Functions:
  1. Experience with homeschooling preferred.
  2. Maintains and organizes library material. Demonstrates ability to work in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Suite, Docs, Gmail, etc.
  3. Maintains and/or assists with student discipline and maintenance of positive student behavior
  4. Prepares materials and supplies for supplemental activities
  5. Maintains high standards of health and safety at all times and reports any concerns relative to student protection to relevant staff or the principal
  6. Maintains good relationships with colleagues and works together as a team
  7. Assists in the supervision of classroom, building and outdoor activities
  8. Reports to assigned duty areas promptly and reliably
  9. Demonstrates sensitivity and respect for diversity among all members of the school/department or district community
  10. Performs other duties as directed by the building principal

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Completion of at least 2 years of study totaling 72 quarter hours at an institution of learning; OR
    1. Obtained an associate (or higher) degree; OR
    2. Met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal para-educator competency test. (PRAXIS)
  3. Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Small group instructional experience desired
  2. Demonstrated skill in communicating effectively with all staff, students, and as a team member, both verbally and in writing
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with students warmly and confidently
  4. Knowledge of student safety rules and procedures
  5. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  6. Self-start independently manage several projects and tasks at a time

Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
  • Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.

And one of the following:
  • Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.

Salary Range: $16.43 - $20.85 per hour depending on experience.
Contract Year (4 days per week Mon-Thursday, 5.5 hours Monday 9AM-3PM and 6.0 hours Tuesday - Thursday 9AM-3:30PM):

Evaluation: This position is evaluated by the building principal.
As required by RCW 28A.400.303, school district employees are required to complete a Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) background checks. Newly hired employees are responsible for the completion of the background check prior to hire.
