Executive Headquarters (117 West 124th St) $65,000 - $75,000 Position Summary: The Home-Based Education Coordinator works collaboratively with site-based leadership to provide coaching and mentoring for home-based educators related to curriculum implementation, ongoing assessments & developmental screenings, partnering with families, and best practices for home visits and group socializations. This position contributes to the design and continuous improvement of the services offered to families and children in the home-based option and ensures that the home-based program fully implements the scope of services outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards. The Home-Based Education Coordinator provides ongoing professional development to support home-based educators' knowledge and skills, resulting in improved child and family outcomes.

Essential Duties: With the support of division and program leaders and under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Education, the Home-Based Education Coordinator is responsible for the following responsibilities across the division: Supporting Home-Based Educators Promote high-quality, comprehensive, home-based services that lead to children's school readiness and family goal achievement. Work with home-based educators to implement the Partners for a Healthy Baby and Ready Rosie curricula and PICCOLO and Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tools reliably, including understanding child and family outcomes data and using them to plan and individualize home visits. Observe and review home-based educators' home visits, Teaching Strategies Gold documentation, and PICCOLO assessments and provide feedback to home-based educators so that educators can better coach families in supporting their child's development.

Ensure home-based educators have the knowledge and resources to plan and conduct successful group socialization activities with families. Assist home-based educators in designing performance goals and provide feedback on home-based educator performance evaluations. Support the home-based educator hiring process.

Conduct administrative responsibilities, such as ensuring visit documentation. Program, Design, and Management Collaborate with the Education Leadership team to develop effective systems to deliver high-quality Early Head Start home-based programs across the division. Maintain consistent communication with program leaders related to the home-based program and other comprehensive services.

Gather and analyze data on program services and child and family outcomes to inform the home-based program's policies and procedures. Implement strategies to promote the recruitment and retention of families in the home-based program. Participate in ongoing monitoring and other annual tasks.

Family and Community Engagement Guide home-based educators in building relationships with families, assessing family needs, incorporating family goals, linking family needs with services and services with desired outcomes and establishing partnerships with community service providers. Participate in case conferences as needed. Maintain a welcoming and professional environment across the division.

Professional Development Develop and oversee ongoing professional development for home-based educators on lesson planning, assessment tools, COPA documentation, data collection, and family engagement. Collaborate with program leaders in planning, coordinating, and implementing diverse, applicable, and creative professional development opportunities for early childhood staff. Participate in offered trainings, workshops, in-service days, and/or conferences.

Support the division's growth, including participating in program-wide goal setting and individual and program self-assessment. Health and Safety Adhere to all state and city licensing requirements, teacher-child/ratios, and CPR/first aid certification. Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, families, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree must be in a specific field of education (early childhood, elementary, special education, etc.) One year of experience engaging with families in an early childhood program through home visiting One year of experience in public policy/advocacy and an understanding of how policy decisions are made and affect communities Key Competencies: Must have specific training or coursework in infant/toddler child development (birth-3) and/or preschool-age child development (3-5) Must hold and maintain Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K CLASS "Reliability" Certificate and CHILD Tool certification Working knowledge of local, state, and national regulations that govern early childhood programs Excellent communication and computer skills Excellent organizational and time management skills
