JOB SUMMARY: The person in this position is responsible for the initial inspection of eligible homes for weatherization purposes, using appropriate tools for job, estimating, documenting and authorizing all weatherization, furnace and water heater materials needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Evaluate eligible homes implementing the Iowa Weatherization Work Standards procedures, particularly required tests and documentations described in Section 1000, item 1024, and Sections 2000 through 8000 of Weatherization Work Standards.
- Explain weatherization program services and benefits to applicants.
- Enter all essential house data from the evaluation into the computerized state-required NEAT (National Energy Audit Tool) Audit.
- Interpret, estimate, and authorize all material to be performed on approved homes determined by the NEAT Audit, and all supporting documents for the qualified contractors.
- Make on-site visits as necessary, checking job sites for safety, appearance, work quality and thoroughness.
- Provide on-site technical assistance when necessary.
- Inspect all furnaces installed through the LIHEAP Program, according to the Weatherization furnace replacement requirements.
- Conduct a final inspection of completed work, identifying completion of all authorized activities and quality of work, and identifying and specifying additional work required to complete a job if necessary.
- Identify and interpret pre and post weatherized homes using infra-red camera equipment.
- Attend mandated trainings, meetings and seminars as required to remain up to date with peers in the profession. Attendance at non-mandated meetings, trainings and seminars is encouraged.
- Maintain any required CEU (continuing education credits) for Home Auditor.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as information source for energy programs.
- Assist in program inventory.
- Input, access and retrieve information from computer system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.
- Minimum of five years carpentry experience.
- Previous computer experience and knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel in 17-county service delivery area.
- Viable means of transportation, evidence of insurance, valid Iowa driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform medium heavy work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion (includes lifting blower-door and/or ladders), up to twenty pounds frequently, and up to 5-10 pounds constantly, performing such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, including some duties requiring repetitive motion for limited amounts of time

Salary Description
$18.00-$22.00
