About the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH):
The Indiana Department of Health's mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health and safety of all Hoosiers so that they can reach their optimal health regardless of where they live, learn, work, or play.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $31,668.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Role Overview:
The Adminstrative Assistant contributes to the vision and mission of IDOH and the Division of HIV/STI/VH by promoting, protecting and providing for the health of Hoosiers and supporting essential public health services in the following ways:
1. Ensuring the accuracy of HIV-related public health information disseminated to consumers, providers, and the public;
2. Ensuring that contract files and databases are accurate and up-to-date, thus maximizing administrive efficiency; and
3. Ensuring the accuracy of all information collected from applicants and providers of HIV-related services, thus facilitating sound policy planning.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
  • Accurately maintain and organize office files.
  • Properly sort and deliver mail.
  • Maintain calendars and schedules.
  • Prepare information and take notes for meetings as needed.
  • Direct incoming correspondence to the appropriate individual.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
  • Basic knowledge of office administration functions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and prioritize work.
  • Ability to establish cooperative work relationships.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
