The purpose of a Histotechnologist is to assist in properly processing surgical specimens to preserve the tissue morphology and cell structure. Prepare quality representative tissue sections on a glass slide for microscopic evaluation and to perform special stains or any immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures needed for diagnostic purpose. May act as a supervisor designate in the absence of the section Supervisor or Manager.
Qualifications:- Education and Work Experience:
- Baccalaureate degree and either one year of experience or successful completion of a HHS accredited NAACLS histotechnology (H.T.L. or H.T.) program; or an Associate Degree and training at a hospital and met ASCP eligibility requirements for certification.
- One year experience in Histology preferred.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Certification Requirements:
- ASCP (preferred) or eligible
