Qualifications:
  • High School/GED required
  • Some College education preferred.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working in Health or healthcare setting is required, preferably in acute care hospital environment or HIM.
  • Customer Service skills preferred and specialized training in HIPAA Compliance and Release of Information required
    Microsoft Office knowledge.

Responsibilities:

The HIM Records Coordinator is responsible for providing timely, accurate and accessible electronic clinical patient information by scanning and indexing documents. This position performs a variety of activities to ensure data integrity. The HIM Records Coordinator upholds patient confidentiality while serving and protecting the PHS/PMG community by adhering to professional standards and all hospital and department policies. Departmental representative for Birth Registration and Release of Information handling and releasing of complex patient information in compliance with Federal and State regulatory guidelines. Patient liaison for all mothers of newborns while facilitating the process of birth registration. Primary contact for patients, physicians and other public inquiries concerning clinical information processes such inquiries and releases information accordingly. Successfully supports heavy public interaction while maintaining good customer relations.
