High School Registrar
Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA is seeking a High School Registrar. This position is available immediately.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible forthe academic records and data of all students, including former students. The registrar must be above all able to keep confidences and be trustworthy and responsible in handling sensitive and important information. The registrar works with the Dean of Mission and Dean of Academics to ensure that accurate data is presented and preserved in a professional manner. The registrar must have good communication skills, be comfortable using a variety of school management applications, and be able to collaborate effectively with administrators and teachers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Enters and maintains student data, including grade records and reports, in manual and computer information systems (PowerSchool)
- Processes withdrawing students, including processing and forwarding records
- Interfaces with Office of Catholic Schools, as needed
- Tracks registrations and creates reports to ensure proper follow-up
- Enters and maintains records on GPA, SAT, PSAT, ACT, AP, and other test scores
- Verifies eligibility status of students for enrollment and graduation
- Maintains and reviews all student files; conducts case management of student files by analyzing documentation for accuracy, follow-up, and for changes in status on a scheduled basis
- Documents, maintains, and monitors student residency status
- Schedules and attends all course meeting for incoming transfer students and their families with the Dean of Academics
- Coordinates the Marymount University Dual Credit Program
- Sets up and maintains office filing systems
- Sends transcripts and verification of attendance for former students
- Answers telephones, receives information and provides answers regarding enrollment, withdrawal, attendance, courses and related information
- Performs related tasks as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of school information system (PowerSchool strongly preferred)
- Strong technology skills, including the ability to quickly learn new applications
- Some knowledge of counseling terminology, methods and procedures
- Experience working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- The ability to work under pressure
- The ability to organize and perform work independently
- The ability to keyboard accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed
- The ability to meet the public effectively
