High School Math Teacher

POSITION TITLE: High School Math Teacher POSITION SUMMARY: Teach 5 classes including Geometry, Algebra 2, project-based math course integrated with physics ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, teach, and assess student performance in five math classesCreate and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and welcoming in order to optimize student capabilities, develop a love of learning, and promote academic risk takingImplement lessons where reasoning, collaboration, productive struggle, and problem solving is expected of all studentsDifferentiate services and instruction to meet variety of student learning needs and strengths, including students with disabilities and English learners Use data to inform and adjust instruction, to track student progress, and to track professional progress through self-evaluation and goal settingRegularly contact (through face-to-face meetings, e-mail, and by phone) families regarding student progressParticipate in collaborative meetings with colleagues to support student learningAttend professional development to continually improve practice Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal QUALIFICATIONS: Current Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in 9-12 MathematicsClassroom teaching experience in a High School, or relevant student teaching experienceStrong interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of state and national standards, and understanding of research-based best practices in mathematics teachingExperience with or ability to implement problem-based learning and assessmentUse technology and multiple resources to enhance student learningAbility to work well on a team and collaborate to best meet the needs of studentsHave a desire to continually improve their practice as a teacher by taking and implementing feedback and a commitment to professional learningBelieve that students of every background and ability can and will succeed at the highest levels of math The Wakefield Public Schools is committed to the prevention of harassment and discrimination based upon race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, limited English proficiency, and disability or housing status.
