USD 218-Elkhart is located in the southwest corner of the state with programs in place that service the community from birth through adulthood. The Board of Education is very progressive in providing the District with the technology and professional development necessary to provide the students with an education that will prepare them for the future.
The facilities are among the finest in the state, which includes a 999-seat auditorium, two full-sized gyms, an indoor swimming pool, an excellent weight room, a new track, and a refurbished football field. The District is the home of a High School housing grades 9 - 12, a middle school housing grades 5 - 8, and an elementary school housing a four-year old program, all day kindergarten, and grades 1 - 4. A virtual school serving grades K-12 and an alternative school serving grades 9 -12 and adults are also part of the District`s educational community. All schools are AdvancED Accredited.
Elkhart is the Morton County seat and is surrounded by the Cimarron National Grasslands. It offers a small community setting where individuals can enjoy a variety of recreational activities while reaping the benefits of an educationally progressive school district. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards
- Deliver engaging and interactive instruction to High School students in various subjects
- Provide academic advising and guidance to students to support their educational and career goals
- Conduct scientific research and experiments in a research laboratory setting
- Collaborate with other teachers and education administrators to develop and improve instructional strategies
- Utilize instructional design principles to create effective learning materials and resources
- Provide individualized tutoring and support to students who require additional assistance
- Support students with special education needs by implementing appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Utilize library services to enhance student learning and research skills
- Serve as a mentor to students, providing guidance and support in their personal and academic development
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and ability to effectively teach High School level content
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage students in the learning process
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage classroom activities and student progress
- Proficient in using technology for instructional purposes
- Ability to conduct scientific research and experiments in a laboratory setting
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting students with diverse needs
