High School Basketball Coach

Role Mission: 
The role of a High School Basketball Coach goes beyond the court, encompassing aspects of mentorship, leadership, and program management. Successful coaches create a positive and supportive environment that fosters both athletic and personal development in their players.
For these specific responsibilities, the High School Basketball Coach reports to the Kairos Academies Athletic Director. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Player Development:

• Skill Training:Plan and conduct practices focused on improving individual and team skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and teamwork.
• Fitness and Conditioning: Implement conditioning programs to enhance players' physical fitness and endurance.

Game Strategy and Planning

• Game Preparation: Analyze opponents and develop game strategies to exploit strengths and weaknesses.
• In-Game Decision Making: Make real-time decisions during games, including substitutions, strategy adjustments, and motivating players.
• Team Building and Leadership:
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to players, helping them navigate both athletic and personal challenges.
  • Leadership Development: Foster leadership skills and teamwork among players.

Communication:

• Parent/Guardian and Player Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with players and their parents/guardians regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
• Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule practices, games, and team events.

Recruitment:

• Scouting: Identify and recruit talented players from within the school or community.
• Tryouts: Conduct tryouts to select players for the team.

Rules and Regulations:

• Rule Knowledge: Stay updated on the rules and regulations of the sport and ensure that players understand and adhere to them.
• Sportsmanship: Instill values of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for opponents and officials. Equipment Management:
• Inventory Control: Manage the inventory of equipment and uniforms, ensuring that they are in good condition and properly maintained.

Safety and First Aid:

• Player Safety: Prioritize the safety of players during practices and games, and be knowledgeable about first aid and injury prevention.

Fundraising:

• Community Engagement: Engage with the community and organize fundraising events to support the basketball program.

Safety Duties & Responsibilities 

Every employee of the School has an obligation to know our safety rules and procedures; to teach what they know to others; to recognize unsafe actions and situations; to warn others of unsafe situations; to react to emergency situations and to report hazardous or unsafe practices to those in a position to correct them.

Language Skills:

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, students, and parents.  

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum High School Diploma. 
• Satisfactory completion of criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. General Schedule:

• In-person coaching for basketball practice and games. Practice is 4:30PM - 6PM Monday-Friday.
• Some weekends and evenings will be required. 

Compensation:

• The stipend for this work will be $2,000.00

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Saint Louis, MO 63118: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting. This coaching job is an in-person role.
