Job Description:
Located in the Occupational Therapy Department of Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). KVMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 12 facilities statewide
This position also reports to SMMH (Kappa Hawaii)
The primary function of this position is to provide occupational therapy at both facilities and therapeutic activities to in-patients, residents and out-patients as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team. This position works in conjunction with the Physical Therapy dept. in providing LTC activity programs for the residents at both KVMH and SMMH. This position requires travel to SMMH on a regular basis.
I. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
A. Education: Applicants for all levels must have a baccalaureate degree in occupational therapy from a school of occupational therapy approved at the time of graduation by the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. in collaboration with the American Medical Association; or in the case of a foreign-trained person, the credentials indicating completion of an occupational therapy education program shall be evaluated and approved by the Certification Committee of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. In addition, applicants must have successfully completed the field work requirements prescribed by the degree awarding school.
B. Experience: Two (2) years professional experience as an Occupational Therapist under medical supervision. The experience must have equipped the applicant with a full professional understanding of the theories, prevention, and treatment of disabilities by occupational therapy and their proper application by the use of activities which are appropriate to the patient's physical and psychological condition and utilizing appropriate manual and other physical skills.
C. Certification Requirement: In accordance with Chapter 457G of the Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS), all applicants shall: 1) have passed the Occupational Therapist national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); and 2) be registered with the State of Hawaii as an Occupational Therapist (OT) at the time of appointment.

****AGENCIES MUST USE THE HHSC TIMECARDS LOCATED IN THE FACILITY PROFILE AS THIS HOSPITAL GOES BY AN 80 HR IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD TO DETERMINE ACTUAL HOURS/OT ETC. ****
The orientation days. The first day of training would consist of HR orientation, (fingerprinting, reviewing policies and procedures, ID badge, etc.), safety orientation, risk & quality management orientation, in-services/education (Code of conducts, etc.), and I.T. orientation. The second day will be focused on electronic medical record (EMR) training.
The training on day one begins at 10 am with HR (or designee) then safety orientation follows so on and so forth.
