Hanger is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer in our Phoenix, Arizona location.  Our manufacturing engineers develops and improves a wide range of manufacturing or system processes by understanding required outcomes and applying best practices.  As Hanger's manufacturing engineer, you will work with the team to develop 3D printed devices with the latest 3D printing technology. Utilizing your expertise, you will have a firm understanding of clinical needs and the ability to develop software to improve clinical process. You will also evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with vendors; soliciting observations from operators. 


  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods, equipment and processes; conferring with clinical experts.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, existing equipment and layouts.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished products and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides direction and changes to software systems utilizing during production or clinical work flow to improve efficiencies or outcomes. This could include software related to digital input for fabrication or system used in manufacturing.
  • Drives innovation utilizing additive manufacturing, CNC machining and 3D scanning technologies. Preferred software experience with Solidworks, MasterCAM and Geomagics Freeform.
  • Maintains operational and company reputation by complying with internal objectives and government regulations.
  • Must be very proficient with Microsoft products and various types of software platforms to access, analyze and report on trends and targeted improvement areas. Must be able to gain technical knowledge of the orthotic and prosthetic industry and related custom fabrication techniques.  

 


  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
    • Minimum of  two years of related experience
    • Master's in related engineering discipline is desired
    • Must have knowledge of medical devices related to biomechanical systems, human anatomy and defined patient outcomes
    • 3D printing experience with mesh based design  
    • Able to quickly learn new products and processes related to orthotics and prosthetics.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to interact with all employees and establish process standards.  
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet expected goals within deadlines by utilizing time management and computer skills.
  • Enthusiastic with a positive approach
  • Able to Travel in the US up to 10% occasionally
