Summary

Responsible for the maintenance and instillation of irrigation systems in all park properties throughout the city of Denton.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Functions:
- Assists supervisor in planning, scheduling and supervising the work of subordinates; daily tracking of crew's time and expenses on work management system.
- Under general supervision, proficiently operates one or more types of light to medium sized motorized construction/maintenance equipment, e.g. warehouse/interior forklift, skid steer, backhoe, ride on and walk behind trencher, bucket truck, etc.
- Operates larger motorized equipment as needed
- Performs construction related tasks including but not limited to irrigation installation, maintenance, and design.
- Performs various skilled duties using hand tools and power tools
- Performs pre-inspection and post-inspection of all equipment and trucks before and after use; performs minor maintenance activities and cleaning of equipment, and reports problems to supervisor
- Responsible for ensuring crews understand and follow City policies and procedures as well as the department's responsibilities (Such as weekend duty and on-call procedures and expectations).
- Installs new park amenities using standard construction practices.
- Responds to after hour call outs for high water, storm damage, and ice and snow removal/control
- Interprets blueprints and plans, inspects finished jobs, including final inspection, and submits recommendations for final site adjustments.
- Responsible for assigned procurement card and purchases. Responsible for the reconciliation with statements and entering purchases on internal budget tracking software.
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Responsible for setting up, working, and tearing down special events and tournaments, including working some nights and weekends.
- Performs dirt work and setting grade by using transits
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of construction related experience
- Class A CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment
OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and customers
- Ability to work in all kinds of weather
- Ability to read and understand reference books and complicated procedures such as blueprints and equipment operation manuals
- Skilled in the operation of a backhoe, skid steer loader, dump truck, bucket truck and trencher.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Possess an Irrigation Technicians License or an industry approved equivalent.
- Texas Class A CDL
- Must possess a valid Class "A" CDL driver's license with air brake endorsements OR must possess a valid Class C driver license with a good driving record and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with Tank Vehicle endorsement within one (1) year of employment.
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
- Must pass a physical examination
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Must be able to work overtime when requested
- Must have or be able to maintain an Irrigation Technicians License within 12 months of employment or an industry approved equivalent.
- Requires lifting up to 100 lbs.

The essential functions of this position require the use of light to medium sized motorized equipment such as dump truck, backhoe, skid steer, bucket truck and trencher while being proficient in the safe operation of power tools including welders, power saws, power drills, etc.
Environmental Factors:
The essential functions of this position are performed primarily outdoors, employee will be exposed to extreme weather conditions including freezing temperatures, temperatures over 100 degrees, rain, high humidity and seasonal allergens.
