SUMMARY

Bering Straits Global Innovations, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator for Vehicle Maintenance and Operations Support (VEMOS) for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) at Tyndall Air Force Base (TAFB) and off-site.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support general site and base maintenance, other Heavy Equipment support, delivering/picking up equipment/materials, project support to include operating equipment such as a 50-ton crane, bulldozer, road grader, 10K forklift, front end loader, tractor, and trailers. For example, the Heavy Equipment Operator assists with building large test articles for the installation protection program.
  • General site maintenance such as grading/leveling site roads and providing base support such as transporting manlift to base to assist base comm with their giant voice system, transport 50-ton crane to main base to provide lifting support (i.e., lifting F-15's, moving concrete buildings for base CE/Security Forces) and another request that might arise.
  • Integral part of the execution of projects to include, but not limited to, RDT&E by participating in the set-up, execution, test measurement, and teardown of projects. This includes transporting equipment and materials to and from the test areas and assisting with the construction of test articles if necessary. Provide base level, mobile, scheduled, or unscheduled maintenance; preventative maintenance inspections/tests; Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) inspections; one-time inspections; service bulletins; and safety recalls. This includes major maintenance.
  • Coordinate, cooperate and work together with other contractors, government agencies, and industry to achieve successful execution of AFCEC’s mission. An example is operating the crane to build test articles on the blast range (Sky X) or modifying a vehicle for RDT&E or other purposes.
  • Provide customer service, during normal duty hours, from 0700-1600 CST as the focal point for meeting the vehicle customers and receiving all work.
  • When necessary, transport General Service Administration (GSA) vehicles to off- base maintenance facilities.
  • Overtime may be required to support travel and on-going AFCEC projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

  • US Citizen
  • Ability to receive and maintain Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Heavy Equipment Operator must possess a Class A Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and be qualified as a general mechanic. Heavy Equipment Operators will perform mechanical work when not required to perform in their operator role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Must have Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and ability to operate Heavy Equipment (cranes, dump trucks etc.).

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions.  Employees must provide a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

The job is performed primarily in an operational setting with exposure to military equipment and machinery, computers, and maintenance equipment. Occasional travel is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
