Job Description:
Manages all operational and financial aspects of the deployment of cardiac diagnostic testing, both inpatient and outpatient for Primary Children's and Children's Health. Develops and oversees the budget for assigned diagnostic groups (Cross Sectional Imaging, Echo, EKG, Holter, Cardiac Fitness, and Device), expands programs and services to improve the care delivered to patients local to Primary Children's as well as other campuses and outreach locations, oversees the staff and ensures that the staff competencies, equipment and facility support the provision of extraordinary care. Partners with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, Heart Center Service Line Director and the following University of Utah positions: Division Chief, Operations Director, Division Manager, clinic manager, physicians and staff and community providers. All care and partnerships should be consistent with ensuring that patients and families have a positive experience within the Heart Center.

Job Essentials:
Operational Effectiveness:
Executes day-to-day operational strategy. Uses resources effectively and assists with managing expenses to meet financial goals of the clinics. Participates in collaborative problem-solving among interdepartmental disciplines. Advocates for resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate care and service based on current best practice standards. Works in close collaboration with Service Line Director, Clinic Operations Director, and Clinic Manager in the development, implementation and management of the annual capital/operating budget, strategic plans and organizational goals. Will serve as on-site management of Heart Center diagnostic operations at the Eccles Outpatient Building in support of aligning diagnostic capacity with clinic-associated diagnostic demand. As Cardiology and Heart Center continue to expand locally and regionally, support strategic discussions of diagnostic deployments.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Outpatient Heart Center Diagnostics (Cross Sectional Imaging, Echos, EKGs, Holter and Device) at, but not limited to, Primary Children's main campus, Lehi (Future build), Layton, St. George, SE Idaho, and Montana
- Inpatient Operations (Cross Sectional Imaging, Echos, EKGs, Cardiac Fitness and Device)
- Provider Reading Telehealth Services (Echos and EKGs)
- Oversight on Nuance Powershare and interoperability with partnering imaging centers
- Payor Paneling of University Physicians for Intermountain contracts
Clinical Excellence:
Ensures employee level performance and compliance with patient safety initiatives and all applicable internal and external standards (e.g. Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DOPL, and other applicable standards of care). Collaborates with other clinic managers and clinical experts to ensure consistency in care and diagnostic standards between Primary Children's facilities in areas of accountability. Takes a leadership role in quality improvement and other projects to improve patient care delivery as delegated by Service Line Director. Effectively uses professional and organizational best practices to ensure the delivery of quality care and service.
Patient Experience:
Takes a leadership role in implementing and modeling Intermountain Healthcare's mission, vision and values. Ensures the incorporation of the Healing Commitments, Healing Connections and Primary Children's Philosophy (The Child First and Always) in all aspects of care and service delivery. Provides input to and assists with implementation of department strategies to improve patient satisfaction through both University of Utah and Primary Children's Press Ganey survey
Caregiver Engagement:
Mentors, develops, and supports staff and leadership roles. Models and fosters a culture of professionalism and employee engagement in both inpatient and outpatient settings and amongst interdisciplinary and inter-agency (U and PCH) caregivers. Ensures competent and sufficient number of staff through recruitment, retention and development strategies to meet care and/or service needs. Responsible for performance management and evaluation of assigned department staff, utilizing Department Director and HR Consultant as needed. Supports professional educational opportunities. Utilizes participative management models and shared decision making to ensure staff input in department level decisions and department input into executive-level decisions. Keeps staff informed of executive level activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
Three years of healthcare management experience.

Demonstrated expertise in leadership, mentoring ability, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business, Healthcare, Finance, Accounting or Nursing.
Experience leading customer relations, finance, and productivity management, continuous quality improvement, personnel staffing and development, and directing or leading activities in the department to insure that patients receive highest value patient care.
