Position: Middle School Health Education and Physical Education Teacher (1.0 FTE)Location: Parker Middle School (0.8 FTE) and Chelmsford Integrated Preschool (0.2 FTE)General Description: This position requires that the individual hired will perform all duties required of a classroom teacher including lesson design and implementation, regular assessments, communication with stakeholders and student support. He/she will teach students in licensed curriculum area and social and emotional skills to provide optimum student services in accordance with the objectives established by the School Committee.
He/she will coordinate efforts with other teachers to provide additional specific services. Teacher will need to confer with parents to promote better understanding of the pupil and his/her environment, assist and guide ancillary personnel, attend meetings and prepare and maintain all related records and reports reflecting activities as required or directed. Perform other duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate. Successful applicant will have the ability to demonstrate superior knowledge of this field, effective pedagogical skills, excellent communication skills, an enthusiasm for learning, and the desire to maximize the learning potential of all children required.
He/she will be able to teach a skills-based health education curriculum as well as manage physical education classes for different age levels and abilities and demonstrate as necessary. Experience with diverse populations, and ability to differentiate as needed is essential.
