Job Summary
The System Director of Stroke Care will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our Stroke Care program, from prevention and early intervention to acute treatment and rehabilitation. This leadership role requires a dynamic and visionary individual with a deep understanding of Stroke Care best practices, regulatory requirements, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams. The Director of Stroke Care will also oversee the development, implementation, and expansion of telestroke & teleneuro services across the UofL System and region.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing or other related healthcare field
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience as a stroke coordinator, or in other areas of Stroke Care at a Comprehensive Stroke Center or related healthcare areas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Strong knowledge of Stroke Care best practices, evidence-based guidelines, and the ability to stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in program development, quality improvement, process improvement, and budget management.
- Knowledge of local, state, regional and national healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements related to Stroke Care.
- A commitment to patient-centered care and a passion for improving Stroke Care outcomes.
- If the qualified candidate holds a nursing degree, they must also possess an active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or Nursing Compact License.
Preferred Qualifications
- If the qualified candidate holds a nursing degree; National Nursing Certification in Field of Specialty completed within 1 year of hire date
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or other leadership field
- PhD or DNP in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or other leadership field
