KBR is looking for a Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Professional to support the OMES III contract in Maryland and other KBR Science and Space Contracts throughout the United States.
The HSE Professional will maintain, update and administer the Safety, Health, and Environmental Program in accordance with requirements of the Federal Occupation Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA), and customer (NASA, NOAA, USGS, etc.) requirements. While ensuring compliance with all local laws, and corporate and/or other regulatory agency requirements and that all requirements of the Safety & Environmental Programs.
***Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident & possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport***
***Must have valid state Motor Vehicle Operator License***
***Must be able to obtain a finding of 'NO RECORD' on the FBI Police Record Investigation***
***Must be able to obtain and maintain a NASA's Access Badge***
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and directing an accident prevention program
  • Establish, review and update a comprehensive accident investigation and reporting program
  • Perform trend analysis on risks and incidents, finding root causes and applying the appropriate prevention methods
  • Maintain safety directives and accident reports
  • Investigate accidents and conduct periodic safety inspections at each site
  • Provide safety indoctrination and education for all employees (including subcontractors)
  • Coordinate with the occupational specialists for support with industrial hygienist requirements; evaluation of environmental factors in chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic areas
  • Provide necessary assistance or advice to program/contract management on matters pertaining to safety, health, and fire protection
  • Coordinate, conduct, and track safety-related training programs for employees
  • Oversee and/or conducts safety related audits
  • Provide inputs to Safety requirements during the task planning purposes
  • Conduct safety and fire prevention inspections
  • Ensure emergency plans are adequately publicized to minimize reaction time to emergencies
  • Provide guidance and training to contract and subcontractor personnel as required by corporate and customer directions
  • Coach and mentor program leadership, driving HSE improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Travel when necessary

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • BA degree in safety or environmental engineering, health education or related field
  • 0 - 2 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and all other safety related federal, state and local requirements
  • Impeccable customer service skills
  • Knowledge S&H programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, specifically the ability to write technical related reports in a clear, concise format
  • Practical understanding of industrial hygiene
  • Previous application and knowledge of the principles, standards, and techniques of safety and occupational health management
  • Professional understanding of the pertinent elements of engineering, physical science, ergonomics, psychology, industrial hygiene, physiology, and other scientific and technological fields which contribute to the achievement of comprehensive safety and occupational health objectives
  • Ability to develop safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards and/or to reduce the frequency, severity and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses
  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position
  • Proven ability to inspect or survey work areas, processes, or other systems, analyze findings, and develop corrective actions
