We are seeking a Head Start Health & Nutrition Coordinator for our Early Learning Center:

Department Function:

The early childhood department provides services for children and families prenatal-5 years. We provide a research-based, play focused curriculum that supports children’s development in language and literacy, math, social-emotional skills, the arts, physical development and fosters a love of learning where curiosity is encouraged.

Job Function:

The Health and Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the Head Start program health and nutrition content areas. The coordinator oversees the data and program activities for content area. The coordinator is responsible for assuring compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements, as well as all grant‐funded requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely record keeping for all program participants
  • Assures timely, accurate reporting in compliance with all department grants/contracts
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and organized confidential records, as required
  • Correctly enters data into funder systems and tracks follow up requirements
  • Develop and create individualized health/nutritional plans as needed · Ensures follow‐up services as needed
  • Coordinates with consultants on meeting program requirements
  • Identifies and selects outside consultants for health/nutrition‐related presentations/workshops
  • Represents the agency on various task forces, meetings, workshops, conferences and collaborative with a focus on children’s health and physical activity
  • Plans and conducts required Health Advisory meetings
  • Explores ways to expand agency’s nutrition and health education services
  • Oversees the programs menus and food nutrition programs
  • Develops and implements training curricula for participants in the Health and Nutrition Program, including health and nutrition workshops
  • Provide programmatic support and supervision
  • Support staff in health/nutrition content areas
  • Provide monthly newsletters and resources to families and staff
  • Recruit children and maintain full enrollment for program.
  • Refer clients to agency programs, as needed.

Qualifications (Skills/Knowledge/Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in nutrition from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Health & Nutrition and/or Child & Adult Care Food Program, or one year experience developing health education programs, or broad experience in child development & communication experience.
  • Experience working with early childhood/Head Start population
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift, up to, twenty-five pounds
  • Childhood development, computer usage including email and basic functions of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication with staff, clients, and funders.
