The Health Educatoris responsible for providing prevention services within the context of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. The Health Educator will conduct health education and risk reduction for adolescents in a school and community setting. A highly trained Health Educator will teach all prevention classes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct health education and risk reduction in school setting using required curriculum
- Conduct health education and risk reduction in community setting utilizing harm and risk reduction intervention
- Conduct quality assurance self-monitoring plan as assigned by supervisor,
- Compile monthly schedule of prevention activities,
- Identify, recruit, & collaborate with community locations and schools where pregnancy prevention programs will be conducted,
- Attend appropriate community resource meetings,
- Attend appropriate training as they become available,
- Assist in developing promotional strategies that will increase awareness of services within the community,
- Successful completion of teen pregnancy prevention trainings and varied Adult Readiness curriculums,
- Prepare literature and other materials for dissemination during prevention activities,
- Assist program coordinator to identify staff training needs and develop appropriate training,
- Perform other assigned duties in a timely and efficient matter
- Knowledgeable of resources for teen pregnancy prevention, LGBTQ, intimate partner violence, trauma, etc.
- Trained to prevent and respond to harassment or bullying in all forms

Undergraduate degree in social or behavioral sciences
Two years of successful experience conducting work with adolescents,
- Current valid driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle during work hours,
- Outstanding organizational, verbal, and written communication skills,
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse community groups,
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Bi-Lingual preferred-the ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish
