THE POSITION

Are you interested in improving the quality and safety of Health Care for the citizens of Pennsylvania? The Department of Health (DOH) is actively seeking someone to be a regional supervisor for the Division of Home Health. If you are a registered nurse and want to begin a great career with the Commonwealth as a supervisor, this is the job for you!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for directing the work of Health Care Surveyors (HCS) for an assigned geographical area to ensure the completion of timely appropriate surveys for home Health Care agencies, home care agencies and registries, end stage renal disease facilities, hospices, rural health clinics, federally qualified health facilities, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, outpatient physical therapy and speech pathology facilities, birth centers, and pediatric extended care centers. These surveys determine compliance with state and federal regulations for licensure, certification, and registration.
Additionally, you will also be responsible for the receipt, tracking, and disposition of all complaints, initial agency and facility applications, and changes in ownership in accordance with established division policies. This is considered an essential position. Statewide travel may be required, which could include overnight stays.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are generally 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. However, please note that this position may have irregular work hours.
  • Overtime as needed.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Greensburg.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Health Care Surveyor or Health Care Nurse Surveyor (Commonwealth titles); or
  • Two years of Health Care survey experience and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • All positions require within one year of hire successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Training and Test (SMQT) administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline.
  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
