Job Description
The job purpose of the Safety & Health Specialist will support the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department and Director of Safety and Risk with the goal of achieving an accident-free workforce and continuous improvement toward world-class safety. You will serve as an expert in Health and Safety disciplines and help develop and administer all aspects of LG Fox Inc.’s safety and health programs.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assists with company compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations required in a construction environment.
- Reviews and analyzes company safety practices by conducting audits, determines any recommendations based on audits performed, and reports to upper management.
- Collects and maintains essential data for effective safety programs.
- Maintains an understanding of programs such as but not limited to: Lockout Tagout, Hazard Communication, hHearing Conservation, Emergency Action/Evacuation, Fire Prevention/Protection, Ergonomics, Machine Guarding/Labeling, Hazardous Materials, SDS Database, Fall Protection/Prevention, Confined Spaces/Entry, Combustible Dust, Bloodborne Pathogens, Respiratory Protection, Fleet Safety, Powered Industrial Trucks, Overhead Cranes and First Aid Training.
- Assists with keeping accurate and complete records of training, inspections, audits, and required regulatory documentation.
- Educates, motivates, and trains Team Members in safety best practices, rules, and procedures.
- Aids and supports the development and implementation of plant programs for the identification, prevention and control of occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Organizes and administers required refresher and new hire trainings.
- Participates in and conducts accident & incident investigations.
- Assists with company safety manual development & maintenance.
- Proactively addresses and corrects all unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Preferred Qualifications include:
- Experience in the Safety/Environmental field in a construction environment and/or Construction fields
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or another relevant field is required
- Practical experience in OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 1926, NFPA, and DOT
- Working knowledge of basic software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in all formats, including verbal, written & presentations.
