We are seeking Head Start Assistant Teachers for the preschool classrooms at our Debra Ann Porter Childcare Center in the Maywood neighborhood. The center enhances the childcare experience for low-income families to help revitalize the economy and create stable employment for low-income families. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in the classroom to ensure children receive high-quality, developmentally appropriate experiences.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with Preschool Endorsement
• Associate’s degree or higher with at least 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred
• Knowledge of a young child’s growth patterns and a sensitivity to individual needs
• Appropriate judgment in the areas of child supervision and safety, as well as parent relations

Estimated Compensation:

• Pay rate $15 - $17 per hour (based on education and experience)
