Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Teacher, functions as a member of the teaching team. Responsible for the education and general development of children in a Head Start center.
1302.31: Teaching practices must emphasize nurturing and responsive practices, interactions, and environments that foster trust and emotional security, are communication and language rich; promotes critical thinking and problem solving; social, emotional, behavioral, and language development; provides supportive feedback for learning; motivate continued effort; and support all children’s engagement in learning and activities. Must have basic understanding of the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework; Ages Birth to Five
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists teacher in planning daily classroom activities.
- Acts as a Co-teacher implementing Creative Curriculum and completing observations and input data in TSGold
- Conducts learning activities such as storytelling, reading to children.
- Leads group singing.
- Supervises arts and crafts.
- Helps children to use small manipulative.
- Encourages children to return toys, equipment to proper storage space.
- Assists with supervision of children during free play, indoors and outdoors.
- Participates with children during free play, indoors and outdoors.
- Assists with supervision of children on field trips and outings.
- Assists in preparing children for naps.
- Supervises children during rest periods.
- Assists with setting up room for daily activities.
- Shares responsibility for clean-up after daily classroom activities.
- Prepares and distributes classroom materials.
- Recruits children for program.
- Participates in in-service training.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a minimum of an Associate Degree in any field with at least 15 Early Childhood Education semester degree.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
