IMC is looking for a Head of Risk to lead the US Risk Team. The Risk Team operates closely with our Trading and Technology teams to manage and mitigate the risks associated with IMC's trading strategies across various products, exchanges, and technologies. The Risk Team is responsible for identifying and assessing risks, determining adequate controls, and developing risk metrics and tools to monitor these risks. The team's areas of responsibility are market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk.
To excel in this role, you will combine your leadership and managerial skills with risk management expertise to add value without creating bureaucracy to the business.
We are looking for someone who brings subject matter expertise and has a critical, proactive, and hands-on approach.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and develop a large team of Risk managers and analysts, providing guidance and support
to ensure the effective execution of the risk management function
• Identify and manage the risks in IMC's existing and new trading strategies across various
financial products, with an emphasis on options and other exchange-traded derivatives
• Maintain a firmwide overview of trading positions, utilizing proprietary and third-party risk
management systems and tools to track and report on risk exposures and discuss key exposures
with trading desks
• Navigate the current and changing regulatory landscape as it impacts our trading activity, especially
15c3-5 and 15c3-1
• Oversee business operational risks, escalating issues appropriately to firmwide stakeholders
• Analyze financial market developments and help build, revise, and enhance risk methodologies
and processes for IMC's trading strategies
• Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management and stakeholders
• Collaborate with global risk, trading, and software development team members to design and
develop and deploy global standards and controls
• Promote a strong risk awareness culture within the organization, encouraging risk-conscious
decision-making and adherence to the firm's risk appetite
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in the financial risk management field, preferably at a broker-dealer
• Strong understanding of financial markets, trading strategies, and quantitative analysis
• Experience analyzing and managing the risks associated with complex portfolios of equities,
futures, options, and other financial products
• Detailed knowledge of exchange-traded derivatives with an emphasis on their risk
characteristics
• Experience working with clearing member risk methodologies, OCC RBH, and SPAN.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to project a strong risk culture at a financial firm
• Desire to work in a growing, fast-paced organization
• Series 24 and prerequisite exams must be completed within 6 months of employment
