Outdoor Cap is seeking a Head of Product to join our growing team. The ideal person for this role will have the requisite experience, skills, passion, and leadership capabilities necessary to drive continued rapid and profitable growth for our Company. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Head of Product will play a key role in establishing the vision and lead the Company’s sourcing, design, purchasing, and product development teams. This relational leader will be responsible for establishing vision and strategy, implementing strategic plans, developing industry relationship and connection, delivering programs and product offerings, and leading departmental teams with a people-first mentality. The Head of Product will work to enhance the company’s product offering to create a sustainable competitive advantage.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Upholds Outdoor Cap's Mission-Vision-Values and Founder’s Pillars by acting with integrity; working together as a team; treating each other with respect.
  • Collaboratively establishes and executes 3–5-year Product roadmap, global sourcing strategy with goals, objectives, and action plans toward implementation.
  • Leads strategic planning efforts for the Sourcing, Design, Purchasing, and Product Development disciplines, ensuring that programs and initiatives align to company-wide business objectives and strategies.
  • Facilitates and collaborates with a broader Global Strategy team inclusive of cross-functional teams to implement roadmaps and strategic initiatives.
  • Leads a business planning process that establishes vision, strategy, and operational plans; and helps provide definition of goals and targets.
  • Maintains a strong awareness of the marketplace, competition, trend, and innovation, while communicating those findings to the broader organization, as necessary.
  • Partners with the business to communicate at all levels of the organization, regarding building and executing the Product strategy.
  • Develops, tracks, and manages annual budgets, including investment and return on investment.
  • Responsible for profitability of the organization demonstrating strong financial acumen, P&L management, and monitoring contribution to overhead by business segment.
  • Provides sponsorship and oversight for large-scale, enterprise projects.
  • Establishes policy and standard operating procedures, adjusting as needed based on business needs and competitive landscape.
  • Leads relationship management at a senior level with key customers and partners, ensuring that offerings meet the company’s objectives and evolve as necessary for changing business and marketplace demands.
  • Works to develop internal talent that facilitates future growth opportunities for team members in keeping with company’s core values.
  • Maintains customer loyalty by ensuring the highest level of service and commitment to the customer at all levels of the organization.

Maintains awareness of all cost centers, including factory, royalty, commission, inventory and operational cost-to-serve. Develops pricing and promotional strategies that contribute to Outdoor Cap’s financial goals. Effectively communicates plans, projections, and results across the organization, and provides thoughtful narrative on contributing factors.}

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or institution in Business, Marketing or related field, or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 8+ years Sourcing, Product Development, and/or Supply Chain Leadership Experience, apparel, or headwear background a plus.
  • Proficient user of Office 365 applications
  • Salesforce experience, preferred.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend, and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Domestic travel <25%, International Travel <15%
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear and professional manner.
  • Ability to move 10-20 lbs. occasionally throughout day.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40lbs in limited trade show environment.
  • Able to hear a telephone ring.
