Job Description
Job Title:Head of Business Excellence
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
About the role:
As the Head of Business Excellence, you will lead the plants strategic planning processes, project management office, site training program and the implementation and oversight of the operational excellence program AGILE 4.0. You will partner with site and global leadership to ensure the best use of resources in defining and planning site targets, KPI's, objectives and programs to achieve the strategy aligning with the Biologics Operations Unit. You will be part of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) and report to the Head of Site.
How you will contribute:

  • Provide leadership and demonstrate ability to coach at the SLT level and across the broader organization.
  • Develop and facilitate process for long range site planning, annual strategic review, and site capacity.
  • Ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost is achieved to support business strategy.
  • Help prepare plant for strategic reviews with Takeda senior management and departments to conduct strategic assessments in development of their long-term strategies. Guide plant through in-depth analysis of necessary strategic issues.
  • Lead the creation of a long-range site strategy and manage the resulting long-range plan which includes capacity, operation, staffing and capital investment.
  • Build the site Dynamic Modeling Process to assess opportunities/risks, financial opportunities/risks, and headcount opportunities/risks.
  • Build, test, and analyze business cases for long range strategic opportunities. Provide strategic link with division Business Excellence. Direct and deploys the Project Management Office and business processes.
  • Direct, manage, and deploy the OPEX organization to improve facility wide operation excellence, "AGILE 4.0" criteria, and continuous improvement culture.
  • Build a talented team to drive successful integration of objectives. Coach and develop staff.
  • Lead the implementation of AGILE at the site and collaborate with QS&I to support Global Quality AGILE projects.
  • Establish a understanding of AGILE program and participate in global AGILE program coordinated by the AGILE PMO.
  • Lead the strategy deployment process at site/function to understand strategy and support translation into AGILE activities in roadmap and ensure the learning site processes are aligned with the global learning strategy.
  • Deliver the AGILE site roadmap through a series of waves, developing local capabilities at site through each deployment.
  • Manage site KPI processes ensuring targets are appropriate, understood and data are reviewed.
  • Support creation of balanced site roadmap detailing AGILE activities which will be implemented in the fiscal year in collaboration with the site/functional leadership team. Ensure all AGILE workstreams are considered when creating roadmap and cross-workstream synergies are highlighted. Ensure roadmap is aligned with GMS/GQ strategy and OpU/Regional strategy.
  • Lead teams to create value for Takeda. Assess provide resolution alternatives, costs and benefits, resource requirements, implications, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Participate in relevant industry forums, conferences, benchmarking groups to further Takeda's pursuit of excellence.

What you bring to Takeda:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field/business required, Advanced degree would be ideal
  • At least eight years of experience in a Quality, Supply Chain or Operations environment required, three years of experience in bio/pharmaceuticals, biotechnology or life sciences industry would be ideal
  • Demonstrated experience with not accepting the status quo to improve the business.
  • Program management capabilities.
  • Prior coaching, teaching, presentation (oral and written), or facilitation skills.
  • Courage to make difficult decisions or recommendations
  • Experience coaching to all levels of the organization including superiors.
  • Knowledge of Bio-pharmaceutical operations.
  • Deep experiential knowledge of Technical Training, Operational Excellence or Project Management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality, manufacturing operations, cGMPs, global regulatory or product development required.

Important Considerations:
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • Your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around the cGMP facility.
  • Frequent wrist and hand motion (e.g., typing, writing).
  • May frequently lift to 10 pounds (i.e., binders, files).
  • May occasionally work in a clean room environment and wear special garments and personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs) due to safety requirements in specific areas.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 5-15% of the time.
