MANAGER, INFORMATION SYSTEMS (IS) III

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
As the Head of Banking IT Operations Services in City National Bank's Technology & Innovation division, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the operations and core technology functions of the organization. This is a senior leadership position that requires a leader with a high level of technical, practical and management experience who can drive the agenda for Operations and Core Technology Services.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Banking operations and corporate tech systems, as well as a proven track record of success in leading and managing internal and external teams , ensuring efficiency, resilience, and innovation within our banking technology domain. You will have ownership of domain-specific experts and will work collaboratively to advance our technological capabilities, making a significant impact on our organization's success.

Technology and Innovation Division

As a member of City National's Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.

What you will do
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and reliability of Banking operations.
  • Drive innovation and technology advancements to improve application performance and reliability.
  • Interface with banking operations teams to understand their needs and ensure that core tech systems meet those needs.
  • Work with the Head of Applications Support and Engineering to ensure that core technology systems are well-supported and maintained.
  • Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of professionals responsible for the operation, resiliency, and maintenance of Ops technology systems.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence within the department.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions to improve banking operations.
  • Collaborate with domain technology leaders to develop and implement new platforms and technology.
  • Engineering Excellence
  • Initially provide L3 support and enhancements for Operations & Core Technology Services, with a longer term aim to lead business growth development
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for banking operations and core technology systems.
  • Ensure that ops & core technology systems meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Make recommendations for hardware, software, and tools necessary for efficient support and engineering operations.
  • Manage and mitigate risks related to banking operations and core technology systems.
  • Drive automation of manual tasks to improve efficiency and sustainability
  • Documentation
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for applications which remove the repeated need for collation
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, implementing best practices, and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Foster innovation and explore new tools and methodologies to enhance the application support and engineering functions.
Must-Have*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years management experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Information Services/Technology
  • Experience in supporting applications that are responsible for banking operations and core functions.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing core technology systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Certified Banking Technology Professional (CBTP), Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within Engineering
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse team.
  • Strong understanding of application development, architecture, and support processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Banking operations and core tech systems, including: Core banking systems, Customer relationship management (CRM) systems, Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Data warehousing and analytics systems, Payment processing systems, Banking Workflow Systems, Call centers, Client Onboarding, AML/KYC systems, Security systems, enterprise level identity management and entitlement supporting systems, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead and collaborate effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in a variety of technologies used in banking applications, including but not limited to C#, Java, Python, SQL, and relevant frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in implementing and managing change.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.- Experience in cloud computing and DevOps practices.
  • Experience in modern development methodologies and practices.
  • Experience in managing and leading large-scale IT projects.
  • A strong understanding of Banking regulations and compliance standards
  • Experience with the following tools: Blameless, Retromart, Zabbix, Prometheus and Grafana
  • An understanding of the latest trends and technologies in the banking industry, such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions to improve banking operations.
  • Experience in managing and mitigating risks related to banking operations and core technology systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing disaster recovery plans for banking operations and core technology systems.
Compensation
Starting base salary: $127,626 - $237,014 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
