Newel and Newel Props, renowned for its expansive collection of decorative arts and antiques in New York City and Hollywood, Florida, is expanding its horizons to include vintage fashion and jewelry. Our Manhattan gallery and extensive showrooms in Long Island City and Hollywood, Florida, reflect our commitment to diversity in high-quality collectibles.

We are seeking an innovative Head of Acquisitions and Auctions who will not only manage and expand our existing collections and auction operations but also spearhead the growth of our vintage fashion and jewelry sectors. This role is crucial in identifying and capitalizing on new revenue streams through auctions, consignment, direct purchases, and the expansion into fashion and jewelry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the growth and development of the auction division, with a focus on vintage fashion and jewelry.
  • Explore and implement new revenue streams through auctions, consignments, direct purchases, and expansions in fashion and jewelry.
  • Manage inventory acquisitions across all departments, ensuring diversity and quality.
  • Develop and execute innovative marketing strategies for inventory, particularly in the fashion and jewelry sectors.
  • Collaborate with the logistics team to streamline inventory processes and operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with consignors, clients, and industry professionals.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and opportunities in the antiques, fashion, and jewelry sectors.
  • Lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the antiques, fashion, or jewelry sectors, with a focus on acquisitions and auctions.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of market trends in antiques, vintage fashion, and jewelry.
  • Robust marketing and promotional skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
