Job Summary
Under close supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Head Lifeguard is responsible for performing all essential and professional duties to ensure the effective performance of all lifeguard personnel. Assist the Director of Parks and Recreation in the training, scheduling, and end-of-season performance assessment of all lifeguard staff members. Responsible to confirm the status of staff members’ lifesaving certifications are current. Serve as Supervisor to lifeguard staff and ensure all lifeguards are fully competent in performing water rescues and all lifeguard-assigned duties. Assists in supervising the Pool Front Desk and Concessions Staff and Lifeguard I positions. Must be certified and able to teach swim lessons at the pool. Ensure the safety of patrons and enforce adherence to all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

*Lifeguards who teach water safety and child and/or adult swim lessons will earn an additional $2 per hour during swim lessons.*
**Returning City of Fitchburg Recreation Division employees will receive an additional $.50 per hour for each year worked for the City of Fitchburg Recreation Division.**
