REPORTS To: Director of Athletics and Head of School
FUNCTION: FUNCTION: The Head Coach is responsible for creating an environment that reflects the values and goals of the Heschel Athletics Department. The Head Coach is also responsible for organizing team practices, travel logistics and game management decisions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential duties with care and compassion for all of our student-athletes. They must model appropriate sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must be First-Aid-CPR-AED Certified
- Up-to-date Covid-19 vaccination (boosted if eligible)
- A background check and sexual harassment training are also required
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in physical education or related area; any level of coaching certification from a recognized sport governing body
- Prior experience coaching and/or playing the sport with the technical and tactical skills and patience to develop at all levels.
Job Specifics:
- Length of season- Approximately 3 months (March-May)
- Two-hour practice sessions three days per week (Tuesdays/Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays)
- Practice Sessions at: Stadium Tennis Center (Sundays 5-7) and (Fridays 2:30-4)
JMTA (Tuesdays/Thursdays 6-8)
- League: Metropolitan High School Athletic League (myhsal.com). Playing against NY, NJ, and Long Island Schools
- Pay rate: Stipend ($6500) based on workload and experience.
