Job Title: Head Football Coach/Enrollment Recruiting Specialist
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Director of Athletics & Student Life/Assoc. Dean of Enrollment
Supervises: Assistant Coaches and Student Workers
Job Classification: Exempt
Location: Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, IA
Summary: The purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of ECC’s football program. This position is responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating all assistant coaches; the recruitment and retention of a full competitive roster; and the coordination of practice planning, skill development and development of coaching strategies to prepare the team for competition. This position follows all Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations in administering the program. The Head Football coach supports the development of student athletes and promotes a culture of student success both in the classroom and on the playing field.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Directs the entire football recruitment process which includes the identification, evaluation, recruitment, and retention of student athletes.
  • Supports the development of student athletes’ success in the classroom and serves as a mentor to student athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Provides supervision of all participants of the football program. Establishes and enforces rules of conduct and informs Director of Athletics & Student Life on all matters concerning sportsmanship (ejections, severe warnings, suspensions, or injuries requiring medical attention).
  • Schedules and coordinates transportation, lodging and meals for travel. Communicates game schedules, travel squads, and itineraries to Director of Athletics & Student Life.
  • Provides for program needs within allocated budget, including inventory of all equipment and uniforms.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of team and college equipment.
  • Develops on and off campus relationships that support the success of the position.
  • Establishes and promotes program and department fundraising.
  • Requires working with NJCAA Letters of Intents, manages operational budgets and purchase orders.
  • Guides the professional development of assistant coaches by providing expanded responsibilities and leadership opportunities.
  • Coordinates efforts to ensure adequate staffing, medical support, and facility availability for practices and competitions.
  • Attends IVCCD and ICCAC meetings as required.
  • Assists with all aspects of college and departmental events and activities including but not limited to campus tours, career events, orientations, Panther Preview Days and financial aid workshops.
  • Works with prospective students and families through the recruiting cycle to ensure all paperwork is received, processed, and all questions are addressed.
  • Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters preferred. Five years of football coaching experience required.
Base Wage: Actual salary will be based on experience and education.
