PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To direct coordinate and manage the football program and coordinate the high school and middle school men's coaching staff. Work to provide each student an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL) and local requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with physical education endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the overall operations of an athletic program
Ability to manage personnel
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics
Experience:
Head Football Coaching experience at 4A/5A/or 6A level - 5A or 6A level preferred
Coordinator with four years experience at 5A or 6A successful football program
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management
1. Direct football program and other assigned duties
2. Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and the findings are used to make the football program more effective
3. Plan the necessary time, resources, and material to support accomplishment of educational goals.
4. Maintain an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development.
5. Keep vital statistical information
6. Keep information related to practice times, schedules and workouts
7. Coordinate men's high school and middle school coaching staff
8. Schedule meetings with parents/booster clubs/coaching staff
School/Organizational Climate
9. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning
10. Deal sensitivity and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds

13. Keep records of student academic needs

17. Inventory men's athletic equipment and supplies
18. Coordinate men's athletic facility use
19. Document men's athletic incidents
20. Compile practice /work-out schedules from men's athletic programs
21. Compile men's athletic schedules
22. Interact with campus administrators and teaching staff on a daily basis
23. Coordinate facility and athlete and athletic personnel regarding shared athletes and coaching staff
Personnel Management
24. Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions with assistant football coaches
25. Evaluate job performance of assistants and middle school coordinators to ensure effectiveness
26. Make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement for assistants to campus administrators and Athletic Director's office
Administration and Fiscal
27. Direct and manage football program
28. Ensure that football program is cost effective and funds are managed prudently
29. Compile budgets and costs estimates based upon documented program needs
30. Implement the policies established by federal law, state law. State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and the local policy in the area of football
31. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
32. Establish the physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in football, and verify each athlete's eligibility
33. Keep an accurate and complete yearly inventory and reconditioning schedule for all football helmets
Professional Growth and Development
34. Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments
35. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and serve as a role model for all district staff
36. Attend seminars, clinics, and inservices that are pertinent to job performance
School/Community Relations
37. Articulate the district's mission and goals in the area of athletics to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission
38. Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs
39. Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and evaluate the performances of all men's head coaches, middle school coordinators, and assistant football coaches
