We are seeking a full time, year-round Head Chef to help run our kitchen operations.
Oliver's & Planck's Tavern has been in business since 1983, our goal is to serve great food and drinks and provide upbeat entertainment in a relaxing and fun atmosphere to Cape Codders and visitors. Our dining room offers cozy booths and traditional Cape Cod favorites. Planck’s Tavern has 30 bar seats inside, high-tops, and booths to choose from, plus 12 bar seats outside on our outdoor bar and deck, ideal for sipping one of our frozen cocktails on a sunny summer day. Our full menu is available all day and we fire up our wood-fired brick oven at 5pm for pizzas, flatbreads, and seafood.

Head Chef Job Description:
We are seeking a professional Executive Chef to complete a variety of creative, organizational and leadership tasks to ensure our kitchen operations runs optimally and customer meals are satisfactory. Their responsibilities frequently include:
Responsibilities
- Developing unique and cuisine-appropriate menus
- Collaborating with the Ownership to set item prices
- Staying current on developing trends in the restaurant industry
- Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health code regulations
- Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors
- Hiring, training and supervising kitchen staff
- Assisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating and delivery
- Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques
- Preparing meals and completing prep support as needed
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Skills
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a Head Chef, line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Restaurant Leadership experience
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
