Head CHEER COACH, EXTRA DUTY (Fall/Winter seasons) Dates Needed: August 2024 Season Ends: March 2025 Salary: Based upon experience/SEA union salary base Duties and Responsibilities: The role of the cheerleading coach is to provide leadership in developing and maintaining a high-quality cheer program that promotes school pride and spirit, and provides encouragement for all athletic teams.
This position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport, achieve a higher level of skill, understand the values of discipline and teamwork, and have an increased level of self-esteem. Knowledge and Ability: The coach should possess effective coaching techniques and skills. They must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
They must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Works with cheerleaders during practices and meets.Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.Assesses skills and assigns team positions.Observes cheerleaders, during events, and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.Teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a manner that provides opportunities for all athletes to learn and improve.Works with athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.Follows national, state, and district regulations governing the sport and program.Establishes and maintains standards of student athlete behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.Models good sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.Acts as a team representative and promotes cheerleading by communicating with the news media, booster club, service clubs, and other organizations.Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.Supervises approved fund raising projects. Works with building principal to ensure that all financial activities are processed through the proper student activity account.Works with the athletic director to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of each season.Maintains emergency cards, equipment inventory, and other related records.Attends meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance .Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff.Application Materials needed: Please include letter of interest detailing your qualifications, coaching experience (please be specific on years of experience and at what level) and OSAA certifications.
