ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES shall include, but not be limited to the following: Meet and instruct assigned activities in the locations and times designatedCreate an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentsPrepare for assignmentsEncourage students to set and maintain acceptable standards of behaviorEmploy a variety of techniques to enhance the activityAssist students to become self-directed learnersUnderstand and apply knowledge about student growth and development in order to provide maximum student learningImplement the District's philosophy of educationEnforce safety precautions and guidelines to protect students, equipment, materials and facilitiesMaintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by laws, District policy and administrative regulationsAssist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student behavior and conductEnforce and follow the policies and administrative regulations of the DistrictMaintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulationsAssist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student behavior and conductEnforce and follow the policies and administrative regulations of the DistrictHas responsibility for the overall supervision of the program, including freshman, sophomore and junior varsity teamsIs in charge of assigning duties of assistant coaches working in the program and conducting certain aspects of their evaluationIs responsible for keeping practice periods for the sport within reason and with due consideration to the coaching staff and welfare of participantsIs responsible for the general upkeep, protection and inventory of equipment under his/her jurisdictionWrites at the end of the season an annual report evaluating the program with recommendations for improvementsIs responsible for recommending purchase of the equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriateHas a shared responsibility for striving to build good sportsmanship and developing good public relations in the school and communityPlans and schedules a regular program of practice in seasonOversees the safety condition of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that student are presentPromotes the sport by prompt and accurate score reporting to the local mediaCooperates with all other coaches in providing the optimum sports program possible under existing conditionsKeeps abreast of new developments, innovative ideas and techniques by attendance at clinics workshops and readings in the fieldPerforms other duties as related to their assignments as designated by the Principal and or the Athletic DirectorEnforces discipline and sportsman like behavior at all times and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual studentsEncourages good sportsmanship and desirable pupil/teacher relationshipsBe certain that all team members under their direction have successfully passed a physical examination, have parental permission and an insurance statement signedThoroughly explains eligibility requirements and participation rules to all squad members. If a violation occurs, make sure you discuss it with the athlete. Don't assume he/she knows the consequences, procedure and recourses.

Due process must be utilized.Is responsible for clearing with the Athletic Director, the departure time for trips that involve loss of school time, and for seeing that the faculty is given adequate and appropriate noticeShould see that all participants have transportation home when returning from road trips in late evening hoursMonitors the eligibility status of all team members. Provide opportunities for remediation such as study sessions, tutoring, etc.Coordinate a sequential development of skill and strategies with JV and Freshman coachesGive support and guidance to assistant coachesOrganize and run a summer programMaintain accurate team and individual recordsAssist in development of game scheduleDevelop budgetInventory and maintain equipmentPlan and implement fundraisers as neededWork with Middle School CoachesDevelop practice schedule for all teamPerform all duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Coaches shall be approved in accordance with the personnel policies of the School District and in accordance with the Arizona Revised Statutes. All head varsity coaches shall have a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate on file or recorded in the office of the principal or his/her designee.

At least two years Volleyball Coaching experience and /or college level playing experience. Professional appearance and demeanor Basic SkillsAn understanding of basic to advanced volleyball techniques and strategiesCapable of modeling skills and physically running drillsAbility to maintain rapport and composure with parents, students, staff, and the general public.Ability to recognize potential problems and take steps to prevent hazards. Language SkillsAbility to read, analyzes, and interprets written documents. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts. Reasoning abilityAbility to apply principles of reason and logic for problem-solving purposes.
